Official Sony Has Cited The Dashboard Ads As "Tech Errors"

“A tech error with the Official News feature on the PS5 console has since been resolved,” reads a message posted on Ask PlayStation, the company’s official North American X support account. “There have been no changes to the way game news is displayed on PS5.”

Some people were saying “of course it’s a bug, it looks like shit vomited all over the screen” but there is clearly a school of UX design out there where the goal is to make it look like shit vomited all over the screen.

The funny thing is, it wasn’t even actual advertisements. The headlines and Reddit posts made it sound like you’d see Doritos ads pop up when you hovered over the game, but most of what was shown were links to patch notes or game-related news. It seemed pretty clear it was just a bug.
