Amazon has announced an original live-action series for Prime Video based on Sega’s successful Like a Dragon game series, previously known as Yakuza.

Simply titled Like a Dragon: Yakuza and including six episodes, this original series is directed by Masaharu Take, best known for the drama series The Naked Director. Made in Japan, the series stars the hugely popular Japanese drama and stage actor Ryoma Takeuchi in the role of Kazuma Kiryu.

Like a Dragon: Yakuza will be available on Amazon Prime in over 240 countries and territories worldwide, released in two batches on October 25 and November 1, 2024.

As someone who absolutely loves Yakuza and RGG games in general, my immediate reaction in the morning to this news was

Had to double check this across social media platforms, the Yakuza series is great, especially after their reboot to the Like a Dragon name and the turn based games need to be appreciated more!
Hopefully Prime Video nails this adaptation

Whats even cooler is that the actor who's cast to play Kiryu (Ryoma Takeuchi) is ripped asf, plus in case if anyone is worried, his acting record is solid too, guy was great in Kamen Rider Drive and Im hopeful that Prime Video wont screw this up due to their shows history

Good for the Yakuza community ig but im not really a fan when it comes to their games, can get insanely repetitive, might give them another chance again
BUT, I did enjoy those Judgment spinoffs, extremely good detective action games
