Advantage is that you get Ward Sensors immediately,
Disadvantage is that you'll have to retrieve an artifact for him from a mold infested mine.
You can also go another way about it.
1. Take the mission from him.
2. Retrieve Artifact.
3. Kill Squint and get the ward sensors and keep the artifact.
