Activision's admission of using generative AI comes via a brief disclaimer on Call of Duty: Black Ops 6’s Steam page, stating, “Our team uses generative AI tools to help develop some in-game assets.” While the statement may seem harmless, it has sparked a backlash from the community, as the vague wording suggests Call of Duty might be selling AI-generated cosmetics—something most fans have no interest in paying for. Notably, Modern Warfare 3’s Steam page hasn’t been updated with the new disclaimer, suggesting that it may not have used AI-generated art despite ongoing speculations.

You'd think after bringing all their subsidiaries on board as support studios, they wouldn't need to outsource any work to the plagiarism machines.

What's annoying is they're not using AI in the right way they could use AI to make more interactive dialogue between you and the NPCs but they would rather waste it on being lazy and using it to generate assets

On the next episode of 'No Duh!' We'll find out corporations dont have any moral obligations to their employees or environment. All they care about is profit.

Now AI is everywhere and in gaming it was a matter of time. I regularly read news about it on llmnews.ai there are many examples of how large companies integrate models into the pipeline and the reaction of the communities is very different. I think the key is transparency. If the studio honestly says what exactly is generated and how it affects the price of the content then there is less hate. And when everything is vague then people automatically think that they want to sell them cheaper content for the same money.
They just don't care about money! Personally, I'm not against AI in games, but I want to understand what I'm paying for and who's really behind the final result.
