Gearbox’s Sam Winkler tweeted to say he remains “firm” in his criticism of Borderlands 3’s “overabundance of toilet humor.”

Then, responding to a user who joked that they wouldn’t be able to use “the poop poop farty 4,000 while doing a mission to clean up porta-potties with my companion skibidi toilet!?!?!?” Winkler said: “I’m not gonna say there’s no toilets but if the word skibidi ships in the game under my watch I’m gonna cry real tears.”

I stand by finding BL2 hilarious still to this day. BL3 felt like it was a group of writers trying to copy that without the original people who wrote BL2. Which is kinda exactly what it was.

BL3’s writing was just a never ending stream of cringe. I enjoyed the gameplay but completely zoned out as a defence mechanism there was ever any dialogue or story

maybe I just don't have the same nostalgia bc I only played the previous borderlands games a bit before 3 released but the humor quality felt the same through all the ones I played. The voice actor for handsome jack was a bit better at delivery for sure but it didn't feel like the humor got any better or worse to me. this all feels like nostalgia goggles or generational divide on pop culture more than anything imo.
