Official Ubisoft Entertainment Lays Off 45 Employees

In a statement, a Ubisoft spokesperson said the “difficult yet necessary decision was made to align these studios’ organizations with their future business and development objectives.” Affected employees will receive severance and career assistance.

The cancellation of the game has led to job cuts, including at Red Storm Entertainment—the team that was working on Tom Clancy's The Division: Heartland.
 
Not enough revenue from microtransactions? Or maybe it's just getting too costly to finish a game before launch?
 
I’m so fed up with Ubisoft! This company has fallen so far, and it’s sad to say, but as a former fanboy, I think they’re just a couple of years away from becoming the next Konami with their pachinko machines.
 
It’s surprising, honestly. Given Ubisoft’s terrible reputation right now, and the string of flops and broken promises, you’d think they’d be laying off way more than just 45 people.
