“We just don’t want it to feel unfair,” he explained, “and today, I think it feels unfair. And believe it or not, this wasn’t our intention. This is more of something that crept in in the last week or so, and that we’re correcting already for a patch that’s coming out maybe in 10 days.”

The instant-fail stealth missions aren't limited to just the beginning of the game.
Instant-fail stealth is a terrible design choice. Gamers have been criticizing it since it first started appearing decades ago. How are developers still repeating the same mistakes after all these years?

Those moments were frustrating, but they weren't the worst. What made me stop playing was the game crashing after spending 5-10 minutes on a dull space escort mission.

The damn instant-fail stealth mission is why I gave up on the game. I spent 45 minutes sneaking through a level, collecting loot, and avoiding detection. I was almost at the objective, but then I made a mistake with one guard and got spotted by one above me.

Despite working on stealth games for nearly 20 years, Ubisoft is terrible at creating them. Nothing they've made has ever come close to the brilliance of Thief 2, which I think represents the best stealth game design. They should just stick to making action games and drop stealth altogether because it's always the weakest part of their games.
