Konami hopes to make a strong return to the horror genre with Silent Hill 2 Remake in October 2024. This highly anticipated revival is being led by Bloober Team, a studio known for titles like The Medium.

In a new interview, the publisher has shed more light on its process of re-creating an icon of the horror games genre. Konami states that it kept Silent Hill 2 Remake as close to the original as possible.

Why it matters:
Various remakes have tried to change too much about their predecessors. Both approaches have worked in the past, but fans mostly prefer faithful recreations.

Im on copium but I think it looks decent enough, obviously the og's charm isn't TOTALLY there
but still, James' design, the environments and models look great
 
The way I see Silent Hill 2 remake succeeding is they don't butcher the art direction and ambience that made the original stand out as horror gaming's pillars
 
Hmm, a Silent Hill 2 Remake, that's a bold move by Konami! On one hand, I'm stoked that they're sticking close to the original, faithful recreations are usually the way to go. I mean, why fix what ain't broke, right? The Medium devs, Bloober Team, are at the helm, so I trust they'll do justice to the horror masterpiece
