Interview Phantom Blade Zero's Level Design Will Be Closer To Classic Souls Games

I don't think map design is a major part of what makes a game "soulslike." It's really the combat and movement mechanics that define the genre.

The Souls series set a pretty high standard for action RPGs, so if you’re making a game with a similar vibe like interconnected world, challenging gameplay, deep lore. it makes sense to draw that comparison
