Rumor Herman Hulst Is Running Bungie Now, Says Jeff Grub

Gotta be honest here... after putting quite a few hours into both Destiny games, there were big stretches where the new content and updates were so light or just plain bad that it felt like Bungie didn't know what they were doing. The polished shooting mechanics and good reputation from Halo have bought them a lot of leeway among fans.

How did Sony decide it was a good idea to spend $3.6 billion on Bungie? For comparison, Microsoft bought the entire Zenimax for $7-7.5 billion, which is around double for a whole publisher. And Mojang cost $2.5 billion. Sony usually makes great choices, but this one doesn't seem like one of them.

The last Bungie game I enjoyed was Halo Reach in 2010, which was 14 years ago. I don't care about live service games and didn't like either Destiny when they became free-to-play. It's a shame since their games used to be great during their prime. I'm not surprised in the slightest.

This seems like a terrible acquisition. They got a studio with a limited IP pool, no big-name talents, and now they're just filling it with Sony execs and cutting the Bungie guys loose. At least when Microsoft did that with Rare, they got some great IPs (even if they completely mismanaged them).
