In the latest PS5 system software update, a major new addition has been made to the console's home screen. A new tile, simply titled Welcome, is being rolled out to all users over the next few weeks, and it's a great new feature that can show you a lot of information about your PS5, friend activity, and more. On top of that, it's fully customisable, letting you pick and choose what widgets show up and how they're positioned, and you can even choose a background. We wanted to provide a rundown of what this Welcome hub can do for you, so let's take a look.

Is it just me, or is anyone else frustrated with the new default settings? I used to love just turning on my PS5 and hitting X to jump straight into the game I was playing yesterday, without having to navigate through menus.

I really hope there's a way to turn off this new default setting.

This is awesome! I really missed the social hub feature from the PS4, so it's great to see it return. What's even better is how flexible it is now.

It reminds me a bit of the widgets feature on Apple’s iOS, and that’s actually a good thing. It’s definitely an improvement over the old Explore tab so I'm satisfied
