While covering the news of Firewalk Studios shutdown, Kotaku added that according to two of its sources, “the initial development deal for the game was just over $200 million.”

That’s what the budget allegedly was when Sony was first looking into Concord, and decided to partner with Firewalk back in 2021. The report goes on to clarify that the $200 million would not be enough to cover the game’s total development costs, marketing, and the official acquisition of Firewalk back in 2023.

According to the article 200 million was just the initial budget and they needed more money to finish the game

Kotaku understands that amount was not enough to cover the game’s entire development

Western AAA is just bloated beyond belief. Hard enough to believe regular single player games costing that much to develop already but a live service game like the looks of concord? This is marvel level money laundering, nothing of this level should be anywhere near that much
