Games that you didn't like at first but got absolutely hooked to at a later time

I finally finished Elden Ring and its DLC shadow of the erdtree for the first time and as someone who absolutely hates soulsborne games, this was my firsthand experience with one and man was it SOOOO FREAKING GOOOOD!!

Wanted to see something familiar here among the community and that is what games did you guys dislike on playing for the first time but later those initial impressions were overcome by you getting somehow hooked to it when it got better. Any games come to mind? let me know

I love all the Resident evil games but the hardest one for me to like was RE6, as a teenager I absolutely hated what it felt like; a B grade Hollywood blockbuster movie

But in my latter years and now as an adult, I have almost 100 hours in it via my own playthroughs of characters AND with my friends in both the campaigns and the mercenaries mode

Welp funnily enough, Im glad we have similar stories because I had the same experience with Elden Ring
Was not a fan at all of Open world games let alone Soulsborne ones but I'm glad a buddy of mine convinced me to get through it and after beating Godrick in a span of 3 months, I got the motivation to beat this game!

Chrono Trigger
Im not used to the active battle system in these old JRPGs so it took me like a week or so to actually understand how to strategize and play this game to the end and for the other endings

Reactions: Chariot
Death Stranding
painfully slow start and tedious to learn, once the game opened up in Chapter 3 tho, I fell in love

Baldur's Gate 3
Not a huge fan of western RPGs but took me a while to get into it and now I have over 100+ hours in it and still in ACT 3

Well since u said soulsborne

Bloodborne was my first soulsborne game, an introduction u can say and man I DIDNT HAVE ANY CLUE what to do or where to go and everything was just painful to fight
Like dawg I couldn't even get to cleric beast and my dodging instinct was 0 lmao
Bloodborne was definitely aggressive based in combat approach so it took me like months before I finally learned about it I ndepth and beat cleric beast and then move to the whole game

Cyberpunk 2077, not any of the game's issues but my own where I cant really play a first person RPG
Really wished this game had Third Person but slowly grew to getting acquainted with the FPS style

Now its one of my favorite games of all time man

Well if u can tell from my pfp, I ma huge zelda fan BUT the most difficult game for me to get into was Breath of the Wild, this is coming from someone who loved all the OG games and loved Majoras Mask

Thankfully took me some time to grasp the open world nature of BOTW and then finally TOTK!

The OG Persona 3, not the recent reload

Man this game punishing as hell, I really had to take days of breaks due to the RNG from uncontrollable party members
